De in Nederland geboren Gonny van Hulst AKA GonnyGlass beschrijft zichzelf als een ‘Urban Glas and Inventive Mixed Media Artist’ en brengt de traditionele glasindustrie technieken op een nieuw artistiek niveau. Met een fascinatie voor street art culture in de urban space context, heeft ze haar eigen vernieuwende stijl ontwikkeld.

Ze heeft heeft zich ruim 10 jaar geleden in Londen gevestigd, en laat zich inspireren door de willekeurige, absurde chaos en diversiteit van het stedelijk leven. Ze zoekt naar de schoonheid in het stedelijk verval, en heeft dat vertaald naar haar kunstwerken vervaardigd in verschillende materialen. Ze wekt vooral met glas, een materiaal dat op zich zeer representatief voor het stedelijke leven.

Geïnteresseerd door de experimentele mogelijkheden van de oven, gegoten glas en afdrukken op glas, combineert ze deze oude en veelzijdig technieken, met een verscheidenheid aan verschillende processen en andere materialen, om dynamisch werk te creeëren dat tot nadenken aanzet.

Als opkomende kunstenaar, na vorig jaar met lof te zijn afgestudeerd van de University for the Creative Arts, is Gonny al genomineerd en aangeprezen voor diverse onderscheidingen en prijzen. Ze exposeert haar werk op zowel nationaal en internationaal niveau in galeries, evenals grote kunstbeurzen en is nu aangesloten bij galeries in Londen en in Nederland.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

2012 Curator of Religionis Violenta Exhibition at the London West Bank Gallery – National and international artists.
2011/12 Artist-in-Residence – University for the Creative Arts, Farnham – Research and further development of new
approaches to the application of imagery to glass art. Running printing, lost-wax-casting workshops with students.
Working towards an AIR group exhibition at the end of the residency.
2011 Artist-in-Residence – The Glass Studio Ireland, Northern Ireland – Working on a personal project (lost-wax-casting)
with International renowned glass artist Karl Harron (1 month).
2009/10 Gallery Assistant – Ben Oakley Gallery, Vibe Gallery, Artswipe, Rag Factory, East End Prints, London
Internships (1-3 months), assisting with exhibitions, event and private view planning, liaising with artists, installing and
dismantling exhibitions, selling and packing artworks at various galleries and events.
2009 Designer Printmaker Assistant – The Rodnik Band, London
Internship (3 months), working alongside fashion designer Philip Colbert. Responsible from start to finish of
designing, preparing, creating and screen-printing artworks onto fabrics for the ‘Da Da’ Collection, shown at
Fashion Week London, Milan and Eastern Europe.
